In 2018 we were honoured to receive the Department for International Trade ‘Board of Trades’ award for our success internationally. Following that, in 2019 we were asked to share our experiences and support up and coming exporters as an ‘Exporting Champion’ for the ‘Midlands Engine’. (The Midlands Engine is a collaboration between local and national Government, local businesses, and universities to grow the Midlands economy.)
We are proud to once again be able to continue our involvement with the DIT as Exporting Champions 2020 even if circumstances have meant that we are all participating a little differently this year.
In 2019 we participated in multiple events delivering presentations and sharing our experiences and advice to businesses across the region. In 2020 as you are well aware everything is now digital, and this is yet another approach we have leaped aboard wholeheartedly as Video Conferencing is now a daily occurrence rather than the exception.
The latest Midlands Engine Export Champion Launch Event & Update was no different to this. Taking place not in a conference room but in home offices and board rooms across the region from dozens of screens.
Presented and chaired by Ian Harrison – Head of Trade (Midlands)DIT the event focussed on both the success of the past year and plans for the year ahead.
As new exporting strategies are due to be unveiled later in the year as 2021 is certainly going to bring with it a host of interesting challenges for us to overcome from ongoing Brexit influenced changes, through to doing business in a post-COVID 19 world as an independent trading nation.
Although the challenges have been great this year we have continued to grow our market share internationally continuing to add a number of new countries onto our roster and have even more lined up for the following year.
The DIT is such an asset to all businesses and has helped us achieve the success and reputation that we have today. We are looking forward to continuing to support the business communities at home and away but we are really looking forward to continuing to sharing our experiences with more future exporting champions in the coming year.
